Investigative journalism team Kalla Fakta [Cold facts] of Sweden’s TV4 conducted a two-part documentary focusing on the Wagner Group and their connections to Sweden.
The second of the two-part documentary series named ‘Wagnerfilen’ [The Wagner Files] was aired by Swedish TV4. Focusing on connections between named Wagner Group members and Swedes, the documentary was further based on the work undertaken by me to map the Wagner Group network and their activities.
The research undertaken by me found that six Russian people in the mapping were friends with far-right anti-Islam activist Rasmus Paludan. The men he is linked to have fought for Russia in Ukraine during the ongoing war or during previous battles in Crimea and the Donbas region. One of the connections goes to Aleksandr Ilyutenko, a named recruiter for the Wagner Group and member of the Union of Donbas Volunteers.
